Inktober 2018: Week 1

Last minute, I decided to try Inktober again this year.

I made a point of not buying anything new, cutting up some watercolour paper and just doing it. This week I’ve focused on UK Folklore/mythology.

Next week I’d like to improve my photos (I keep taking them after work at night), find my Sakura Microns (!!!!), and maybe use some larger paper. I also “cheated” and used my iPad on the 5th day - going to try not to do that again!

Who else is doing Inktober this year? Let me know!

Hello, February

I can't believe we're already pretty much halfway through February...

The first week or so was spent finishing up an illustration commission and hanging out with my little shadow:

We also visited Nymans Gardens & Brighton over the weekend. We go to Lucky Beach for breakfast almost every time and it never fails so disappoint:

Also, yep, I've changed the name of this blog. I'm in the middle of designing my portfolio website and wanted to separate this out a bit. Nothings final in terms of platform yet, but the name definitely is!

Commissions & Personal Projects

A few illustrations from the last month; This little guy is something I just did for myself, finished yesterday. Kind of just want to use gold gouache on everything now, it looks so good! Tempting to make a series of these with splashes of gold in all of them. A made up lizard/gecko species, painted for a client who is having it printed on to plates and hung on his kitchen wall. Hopefully I'll have a photo of the finished product soon! Not something I would usually draw, but the colour combination was fun and it was interesting to paint something that wasn't primarily fur/hair. And this was a fun commission from the band Solution Hours for their EP Try Again. They wanted some of my classic "girls" in black and pink - just my cup of tea! They were drawn on my iPad using procreate. Can't wait to see them in action.
