Surprise Paris Trip: Part 1

The first set of photos from our little trip to Paris last week!

I’ve wanted to stay in The Hoxton in Paris ever since they announced they were renovating an 18th century building there. Of course, it was beautiful. And the fooooood!!

We had been to Paris once before around 5 years ago, and did all of the classic touristy things then. So this time, we whiled away our time just wandering the streets and eating lots. Just what my little heart needed.

Brighton for the Night

I was going to vlog my little trip to Brighton this Monday, but found that I was enjoying myself too much to film everything. I find that happens quite often, maybe I need to work on that... It was a JAM PACKED couple of days, and my feet are definitely feeling it right now. It was so worth it though, just wish we could have stayed a little longer!

These are just a few places I'd recommend going to if you ever visit: Workshop living - They stock very minimal, Scandinavian and Japanese designed homeware. I'm a sucker for Japanese design, so I love it in there. It does smell very strongly of incense though, so if you aren't a lover of it (like myself), be prepared!

Redroaster - Very good coffee, which you can actually buy (queue Harry the fancy coffee fiend getting very excited), and an interesting menu. Feels cool, but not intimidating. Plus, marble and brass everywhere - Instagrams best friends, hah!

Lucky Beach Cafe - Right on the seafront - if it's a warm day, go sit outside! Eating breakfast by the beach is the best. Really yummy breakfast menu, and I want all of their serveware. (I need to cool it with the stripes...) Other great places that I didn't photograph: 'Tidy Street General Store' - full of Soeur and Rachel Comey, I walked in and it was all honestly my ultimate dream wardrobe. One day it will be mine, ONE DAYYY. Plus some cute ceramics and homeware accessories. 'Magazine' - full to the brim with magazines on everything and anything 'Family Store' - Stocks Stay Home Club; Forever supporting my fellow Canadian illustrators/designers! Our main reason for visiting Brighton was to see Kishi Bashi at the Hope & Ruin. I have a real soft spot for Kishi Bashi, he is one of my favourite musicians of all time. I can honestly say that it was one of the best gigs I have ever been to. It was his last day of tour, so I think he was suffering from a bit of hysteria, but it just seemed to make it all the more personal. There were only 150-ish people there, so it felt more like a party than a gig. His voice was impeccable, and Harry and I can safely say that whenever he is in the UK (or Europe; I'd travel pretty far to see him again!), we're going to see him again. And again. Aaaaaand again. Listen to him - nowww!

Amsterdam Day 2

On our second day in Amsterdam we spent most of the day at the Hortus Botanicus. I think I will always be drawn to botanical gardens, no matter where in the world I go. This one was beautiful, it's one of the oldest in the world, but it's so well kept, as is everything in Amsterdam it seems, that it didn't look it! It's not as big as Kew Gardens, but it was definitely worth visiting, and I loooooved the butterfly house. We also stuffed our faces with loads of amazing food, including a green veggie burger (and by green I mean the entire thing was green, including the bun!) but I was enjoying it too much to take photos, whoops!
